Rooted in Nature!

Hello Everyone, here I am back again sooner than I expected.
I hope you are well, and having a good day. I took myself into town today as I wanted to buy a gift for our niece Karen ready for Alistair going down to visit next week.  I try to keep away from the town as I find it so depressing with lots of shops now boarded up, a plethora of betting shops and charity shops. The shopping center has the same shops that you find the length and breadth of the country. Almost all of our little independent shops have gone, such a pity, but the rates her in Inverness are exorbitant, I do wonder what the tourists think when they visit.
Anyway, I did what I need to do and got back home and settled in for an afternoon of knitting.

Thank you for your lovely comments on my last card.
I have a card that I thought would be perfect for Moving along With the Times challenge, card for a man;
I made this card way back last year for a friend's husband's birthday, but never got round to posting it.
I love trees as you know, and I think they are awfully good for male cards, so I used this fabulous tree image from the SU Rooted in Nature stamp and die set, and I've  embossed the background with more trees. I can't remember what the paper in the background is, sorry. The sentiment is from a freebie set I got in a magazine, some twine and some enameled dots finished it off.
So I would like to enter my card into; http://movingalongwiththetimes.blogspot.com/2019/03/94-for-man-zoe.html

Just a short post tonight, so I'll say cheerio for now and see you soon, take care of yourselves,

Lovely card Kate. I love trees as well, it's a good job as Iam surrounded by them. Still a bit tired from Journey south, but it was great fun and went to Chatsworth House as well. How about doing one of Ang's workshops later in the year. Something to think about anyway. Speak Soon Kate. Hugs Rita xxx

Hi Kate, your card is lovely and I agree with you that tree stamps are just perfect for masculine birthdays. I also agree with what you say about your town. I really think that is the case throughout the UK now and I dread to think what it will be like in ten years time. It’s a good job that we have our crafting to keep us happy now that we can’t go shopping! Take care x

Whenever I go home to Southport it depresses me Kate , the famous Lord Street is now full of charity, betting and coffee shops, not exclusive boutiques like it used to be.

Love you man card, thanks for joining us at MAWTT. Xxxx

A perfect masculine card Kate, that image is just beautiful. Our town is the same sadly, I used to be able to while away a whole day just browsing the town, now I only go if I need something.....straight in & out. Have a lovely weekend.

Sadly much the same in so many small towns now Kate, I was actually commenting on it after going into Huntingdon the other day, quite a sad sight. A tree is always such a strong image for a card, lovely.

The tree is pretty Kate, and looks especially nice on the wood panel background. We have the same problem here with stores closing and empty buildings, yet they keep building more of them that sit empty....ugh...

Have a nice weekend, Kate.

Fab male card. It is so sad to see emoty shops isn’t it. I do like visiting charity shops though especially for books and jigsaws and it does some good. I love it when we visit somewhere with lots of independent shops

A super card Kate, your embossed background goes perfectly with your fabulous tree.
I think most of our towns are the same, it really is such a shame.

Ah this is super, what a great male card, love that tree stamp. Its the same in Arbroath, sounds exactly the same with betting shops and charity ones on the high street. Our wee local stores have been hit with new parking charges at all the town centre car parks now as well as high rates so the high street is deserted. Thanks for dropping in past my blog, Hazel xx

Great masculine card, KAte. I agree about trees for masculine cards.

I liked Inverness. I agree about the ordinariness of most of the shops but that is what so many seem to want these days.
I loved your crafty type shop and bought several reasonably priced dies there. I forget the name now.

I like charity shops though I go to all the ones in my town with my girlfriend once a week and we have lunch out. We look for name brand items her stay at home daughter flips for resale on a bidding site.

I look for things my daughters mention or items suitable for immigrants new to Canada (like a matching set of modern looking dishes, or a full set of silverware). I keep them all in a rubbermaid container in the garage till my friend tells me there is a new family at her chiurch and they need everything to set up house here.

Wonderful card Kate. Love how you have put the tree on the circle. That is such a great idea. It is a shame about the high street shops.
