Gorjuss Snowman!

Hi All, boy is it hot here, 26 degrees in the afternoon, and not that much cooler now in the evening, how is it where you are?  I just hope it keeps up as I think the children start their school holidays next week.

I've been awfully lazy around the house, just too hot to pull the vacuum out and too sunny to wash windows guess it will just have to wait.

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments on my last card and a Big Welcome to Lisa from Mermaid Crafts, lovely to have you here and I hope you pop in when you can.

As I'm typing this up Brazil are playing and Alistair is jumping up and down on the sofa, men and their football!!, every  time he shouts and jumps, so does poor Teallach, poor cat is stressed with it all.  I think there is another  couple of weeks of it to go.

Anyway, enough of this, I've got a little card for the Rudolph Challenge over at Scrappy Mo's blog,
Now I just love this little Gorjuss guy, but he looks awfully sad I think. I've given him  a vintage looks with his colours. LOTV papers and Zig water colour pens.

It's going to be a sticky night, so I don't expect to sleep well....like I do not anyway, still mustn't complain, I'll say cheerio for now and see you soon,

I would like to enter my card into  https://scrapsoflifebyscrappymo.blogspot.com/2018/06/june-rudolph-days-challenge.html

Captivating Cacti Spotlight for BBB Challenge!

Hello Everyone....Wow what wonderful weather we are having up here in the not so frozen North. Certainly can't complain this summer!

I hope you have had a lovely weekend, and that your weather had been brilliant too.

Thank you for the lovely comments on my Christmas cards and for the help regarding my photo. Well, I managed to fix it by deleting my profile photo and redoing it, I also changed the photo, so from now on it won't be Cuillin showing up but me. I also put the photo on my Google account as someone suggested, so I'm not too sure what part of this that did the trick, but it did.

I'm here today with my card for the Back to Basics and Beyond challenge and this time it's the Spotlighting technique. You can find samples of this technique here and also on You Tube here.
I've use the Captivating Cacti stamp from Chocolate Baroque, stamped in green ink, and coloured with various colour pencils. The background is another CB stamp Square Bubbles, sentiment from the Blossom and Grow stamp set, stamped on to vellum. A bit of shimmer form SN Sparkle pens and a few pearls.

We would love you to join us and show what you can do.

That's me for now, take care of yourselves and see you soon,

Gingerbread or Candy Cane for the CCC!

Hello Everyone, how's your weekend going? well I hope, and that whatever you're doing it's relaxing and enjoyable.

Teallach and I are just the two of us as Alistair is way at his climbing club's AGM, down in Glencoe, I'd love to be a fly on the wall, it'll be a hoot of down memory walk as the average age is around 150. Of course it's all men, and as this year it's been held in Jacksonville which is a hut at the foot of the  Buachaille Etive Mor, so the accommodation is somewhat Spartan and wives are steering clear.  Then Alistair is going to visit his brother for a few days, so it's all quiet in the Currie household.

Now, I have a problem with the Follower thingy and wonder if anyone has an answer..... my photo is no longer showing up when I click to follow someone. I know I've been added, but it's just a blank square that shows and it's at the end of the person's list, so chances are they won't know I've followed.  Would anyone have a clue as to why this has happened and if I can fix it? I don't think it's anything to do with the data policy thing as it's happened before that. I've searched  on the blogger help but to no avail.

Righto, once again it's time for the CCC to show their latest challenge and this time it's our lovely Lorraine who is our host and she would like to see Gingerbread and or Candy cane, here is what I've come up with;
A Sheila Douglass image using Zig watercolour pens, then some SN Sparkle pen. SB spruce and pine cones dies and a little candy cane embellishment.
I love Gingerbread men, the real kind for eating, but then I love gingerbread especially if it has icing on the top. Anyway, the tag is a Papermainia stamp, and the background paper is from a Christmas pad given to me by Mrs. Duck, the little MDF gingerbread man too. The larger one is a felt on from a pack I bought at Hobbycrafts. A simple card really.
I hope they will do Lorraine, it was a super challenge and I enjoyed it.

That's me then, please have a visit to my team mates from the CCC as they always have fabulous creations.

Just before I go, a huge thanks for all the lovely comments on my last card, very much appreciated,

On a Musical Note!

Hello Everyone, are you all well today, I hope so but sending out warm thoughts to those who are not just so good.

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments on my last card. I won't be handing it over until a couple of weeks yet, but as my neighbours don't look at my blog I felt it was safe to share it here.

Now , I've found another hobby...adult colouring books, that certainly takes me back half a century lol.  I've been watching all sort of You Tube videos about it an been blown away by the talent and skill of some of these colourists and the range of books is amazing. It's also a good way to practice colouring. Anyway, I've bought a couple of books and they have been keeping me busy whilst the footballs on. Goodness know if I'll ever finish colouring in a book, but I'll give it a good go.

So, here I am with another card, this time for our friend Dougie who is retiring and also has a birthday,
 A musical theme for him, I received the EF from my lovely friend Mrs. Duck for my birthday, which I used on black card, then rubbed silver gilding was across it. The stave die is by TL and the Treble clefts are from Marianne, I think. Lots of silver mirri, hence the poor photo. The sentiment is from one of Creative Stamping magazine's stamp sets.
Dougie is a brilliant whistle player and writes tunes, in fact he wrote one for our wedding which he then framed for us. Due to his poor physical health at the moment, he is not able to do the outdoor activities that he also loves, he used to be part of the canoeing and climbing group, but he still has his music.

Well, that's me for now, I'm off to catch up with a couple of programmes that I've missed due to the footie, so take care all and see you soon,

Golden Wedding Anniversary!

Good Morning to Eveyone and I hope all is well with you.  Here we are once again at the weekend, why do the come around so quickly, the weeks and months are galloping by.

I had a lovely birthday,  with beautiful cards and gifts, quite a bit of new crafting goodies too, lucky me. There was a downside though....I was a year older lol.

So we are into the World Cup...wall to wall footie. Now my hubby tries to let on that he's not that much interested in the game, but  flicking the channels over if I leave the room is a bit telling.  I heard him on the phone to friend Derek say in I was putting him out as the Sain//Portugal game coincided with Corrie and I wouldn't let him watch it and could he come over and watch the game with him. What a lying Toerag! and he took both scones that I'd hoped to have with a cuppa later in the evening...I would have only eaten one of the scones. Men!!
I did watch the first game on and off the other night and was pleased to see the much maligned Russia winning, and the camera shots of Pesident Putin and the Saudie chap whoever he was, we're priceless .  Anyway, Alistair arrived home having enjoyed his evening and a scone, but Derek  had no jam  for it...pity that, cos we have.

Right on to my card, something a wee bit different;
A pop up box card. This is for our neiboughrs who are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary.  All the papers are from Sara Davis's Rustic Wedding pad. Most of the flowers are from Wild Orchid. The couple are great gardeners so thought I'd stick with the floral theme. I don't make this sort of thing often as they are so time consuming, I do hope they like it.

Thank to all who visited and left suck lovely comments on my last card and for the birthday wishes.

Not much going on here this weekend, the housework mainly, hope you all have a good one, cheerio for now and see you soon,

Hugs Kate xx

Heat Embossing for Back to Basics and Beyond!

Hello Crafting Friends, start of another week having the last one whizz past and for me not only a week, but a year as it's my Birthday week, Yeh!! Why am I yehing,  I'll be 65, and over the last few days have felt 75 lol.  Not to worry, nothing really planned, but doing no housework!!!.

Thank you all so much for the comments on my CCC cards. You are all so kind, even although the photos were hopeless.

So today I'm here with my DT make for Back to Basics and Beyond Challenge. The Challenge set this time is Heat Embossing;
All the stamps used are by Chocolate Baroque, and the pretty lady with the daisy dress has been embossed in white EP and I've coloured the daisies with Prisma Colour Pencils. I heat embossed a golden frame around the image,  keeping the daisy colours. I found lovely white daisies in my flower stash so added them. This image is one of my favourite CB stamps. I didn't add any other embellishments, didn't think it needed it.

BBB is a new Challenge Blog and it's all about techniques, some new to those starting outon their crafting journey, and refreshing skills of more seasoned crafters. Please visit the blog and think about entering the challenge. You can find it here
Look out for the other DT creations, fabulous work.

I hope you are well and still enjoying this good weather. I'll be back soon, take care

Anything but Square for the CCC!

Hello to You All, I do hope you are well and enjoying your weekend and experiencing good weather.
We are having a quiet day as we were out at a concert last night in Dornoch Cathedral. The performance was given by the Mahler Players, just a small orchestra, but oh so good and the programme was lovely. Debussy, Ravel,  and Brahms. The downside was that we felt not too great after out meal, and although we had different things, both tummies were grumbling through the night, hence being tired today.

Thanks to everyone who left such lovely comments on my last card, you are all so kind.

Anyway, here I am once again with my creations for the Christmas Card Club, it's amazing where this last fortnight has gone. So our lovely Sylvie is host this time and she would like to see Anything but Square. I made two tiny cards, mainly as the stamps were tiny;

Sorry Sylvie I've not been very imaginative with my shapes, a circle and a rectangle,  but I love these cute Snowmen, well one is a Snowangel. I bought a sheet of stamps from my local craft shop and I think it was a £1 and there are lots of tiny stamps on it, and you know me and Snowmen, so i was worth the money. I've just stamped and glittered.
Photos aren't really brilliant. sorry about that.

I hope these will do Sylvie, it was a super challenge and I did enjoy it.

Remember to visit the other CCC girls as they will have a selection of fabulous creations.

That's me for now, going to schedule this post for tomorrow when the challenge goes live. Till next time keep well and enjoy the rest of the weekend,

Take Me to the Ocean!

Hello Everyone,  I hope all is well with you and yours and that you've enjoyed your day.

We have had a swelterer today, 24 degrees at one point, it was marvellous sitting out in the garden and watching the birds.

We have a few Starling families just now and it was just delightful watching the babies being fed by their  parents, what noisy babies they are too.

I've got blocks of berry suet hanging up and they just love it, but I've noticed that the Blue Tits and Gold Finches are enjoying them too, when they can get into them that is....the Starling are such bullies.

I've got a lovely little wooden plaque today, unfortunately the colours aren't showing up all that well. All the stamps are from Chocolate Baroque and the swirly green plants are from an Imagination Crafts stencil. To create the sand I've used Pebeo textured sand and coloured it with Starlight Paints, in fact all the colours are Starlight. I've added some lovely pearl sequins from SU.
I have a space on my bedroom wall which is dedicated to my sea world and beach projects, so this is another one to add to the wall.

Well that's another weekend about to start, have you got something planned or like me take it as it comes. We have to have some thunder and rain tomorrow, and for sure it is awfully sticky hot just now.

Thank you for your lovely comments on my last card, most appreciated.

That's me for now,enjoy your weekend whatever you get up to,
