Non Traditional Colours for CCC!

Hello to You All, I hope your weekend is going well. They come around so quickly don't they!. In fact I can hardly believe it's August, I would like to slow it down a bit....time I mean.

So, it's time again for the Christmas Card Club to show their creations, and the theme this time has been chosen by our lovely Sylvie and as you can see from the post's title it's Non Traditional Colours.
Now I'm guessing that traditional colours are red and green, gold and silver, so I've tried to stay away those colours, in the kind of shades that are used on Christmas cards, anyway here's what I've come up with;
Sorry but this was difficult to photo. These little Gnomes are Scandinavian ones and called Tomtes, I think they are so cute, and I decided to put them on black card. They are new from Chocolate Baroque. The stamp has three Gnomes, but I decided to make six of them and coloured them with Gansi Tambi and Colrio Metallic Water colour paints after having embossed them in Wow Silver EP. The sentiment is from Creative Stamping magazine, and I've finished off with a few crystal gems.

Next up is another Tomte Gnome, a larger one this time and he is coloured with Prismacolour pencils and I've created a wee forest scene around him using various pine tree stamps from a few different brands. Now, I know that his house isn't Scandinavian, but I didn't have one, but I thought this one would do, it's from a set by Apple Blossom and I decoupaged the roof, The North Pole sign is also from the Apple Blossom set. Distressed Inks to make the sky and Stampendous Chunky Snow EP. Finished off with a ton of glitter and Star Dust. I'm rather pleased with how this one turned out.

Finally, this gorgeous stamp from CB, another new one called Festive Garden, Windsor and Newton Water colours for this one, Gel Pens and Distressed Ink. The little robin had been decoupaged as I made a mess of the original one and didn't want to start the whole thing all over again, so had a light bulb moment, stamped him out again and stuck him on. A butterfly or gems just wouldn't have covered the awful looking robin, even Alistair turned up his face when I showed him.  Lots of sparkle too.
I hope they will do Sylvie, I love the challenge so thank you, and I got to use these lovely new CB stamps that I bought with the birthday voucher that my lovely friend Rita gave me, so thank you Rita too.

Well it's sweltering here today, there is thankfully a wee breeze, I hope the weather is good where you are.

We are off to a jazz concert tonight, being held in the Cathedral here in Inverness,, really looking forward to it and we'll have our tea out, even better .....no cooking for me tonight.
Scheduling this post for tomorrow for when the CCC goes live.

Thank you for all the lovely comments on my last card, I do appreciate your time. Welcome to June who is my latest Follower, it's lovely to see you here and I will be popping over to see you, I hope you will pop in here again.

That's me for now, enjoy the rest of your Saturday,

What a great set of cards Kate. I love those gnomes and seems like purple has been a popular choice for the colour many of us have chosen. Perhaps we'll start a new trend. Hugs Zoe x

I am so pleased you are enjoying using the Tomte gnomes and that wonderful large Festive Garden stamp. The two different cards made with the cute gnomes are so different and the first looks great on the dark card with the silver embossing and the metallic painted look, and then that fantastic background you have made on the second, and the falling snow using the chunky snow is so realistic and the northern lights look to the sky is another idea which has worked beautifully..love his little toadstool house. Lastly the Festive Garden has wonderful strong colours and the decoupaged robin works well too. x

Three fabulous cards Kate. The cute tomtes make great cards and the tree is terrific. All great. My visitors have gone now and it is so quiet but it meant I could get on with my cards last night so my post is now up on the blog. Hope you enjoyed your jazz concert - and your meal out! Always a bonus (as my sister would have said) if you don't have to cook it yourself. Hugs Christine xx

Three wonderful cards, all lovely. My favorite is the Gnome with the snowy scene in the middle, but the six gnomes (his friends no doubt) is a fun card, and your beautiful Robin scene is beautiful. I envy those who make all their cards for Christmas giving, wish I was more disciplined about that!

Three lovely Christmas cards Kate but my
favourite just has to be the second card.
The gnome is just so cute and the scene
you've created is great. The colours
give a hint of a cold drab winter's day.
Enjoy your weekend.
Hugs Jennifer xx.

Your Christmas cards are so delightful, Kate! I love gnomes! Your sextuplet of gnomes in non-trad colors is splendid on black, your Tomte Gnome is so beautiful colored with pencils and set in a schparkly winter scene, and your little robin looks divine among all the Christmas elements on your third design! The colors are amazing! Hugs, Darnell
