The Bride and Groom!

Hello to You All, hoping you are all fine and dandy today, sending out kind thoughts to those who are not feeling too well and hope you feel better soon.

Change in the weather for us today, wind and rain and very dull, but the temp has gone up a bit, however, we've had a better Autumn than Summer.

I've had two strange phone calls today from the Dept. HMRC (is that the right way round), anyway, an automated voice, telling me that they have been trying to get in touch with me. The first call I cut off pretty sharpish as I know that if this government body are trying to get in touch with you they will write, this I know as they were trying to get in touch  with me last year, regarding a pension I had taken out decades ago in my former married name. Anyway a few hours later, I had another one and this time I listened a bit longer to hear that I'm to be sued by the said department and to press number 1 on the keypad.  Once again the I cut the call. I am hopping mad at this scam cos that is what it is, I, thankfully am up to speed with these sorts of calls, but not everyone is and hearing that you are to be sued by  HMRC would scare the pants off some folk, especially if you're vulnerable.  These people who perpetrate these scams are just scum as far as I'm concerned, but there seems to be little that can be done about them as they are legion.
BE WARNED, DON'T PRESS ANY BUTTON, BEST TO CUT THE CALL IMMEDIATELY!

So after all that, here is my card for sharing;
LOTV Image and Promarker Coloured, I think the paper is Rose Garden by First Editions. I made this yonks ago and don't know why as I only ever make wedding cards if  someone commissions one, anyway it's a lovely little image and I've always got one in the box if needed.

Well my bags are packed and I'm ready to go, as the song says, but I'm not leaving on a jet plane but, the Gold Bus down to Glasgow for the Hobby Craft Show at the SECC. Going tomorrow and getting excited about our little trip. Alistair is coming along too, but not to the craft fair, but as Jim, is brother lives in Glasgow he will meet up with him. We are going to make it a mini break and we got a good deal on a nice hotel.  Last year I went down to the show and back home all in the one day and it's really too much.......this is another example that one is getting older when you can't take long journeys in a day.
I am meeting up with Rita, some of you lovely folk will know her, and who know there might be others too, we will be there on Friday, so if you see me or Rita give us a shout.

I've got a list made out of what I'm looking for, Imagination Crafts will be a stand I'm heading for, I don't think Inkylicious will be there this time, but Card-io will.  I'm sure there will be lots to see.

So I will be absent for a few days here in Blogland, but will see you for the next CCC share.

Just before I sign off, thank you to everyone who left such lovely comments on my last post, much appreciated, but for now,

The scammers really are a sad lot Kate, hubby got caught a few months back, range a well known DIY store, an automated message cut in to say there was a fault on the line.....all sounded above board at that point, his call was diverted at which point he hung up. When he complained to the said DIY store they apologised and said he was one of many victims in a half hour period, but no real explanation, the charge that showed up on our phone bill was just over £17 and needless to say BT take no responsibility, neither did the DIY store. Leaves a nasty taste.

After all that, lovely card !

Adorable card Kate. So lovely.
Those scammers annoy me. Like you said you are aware of it but some poor soul could be frightened to death. We get them from the microsoft engineer all the time. Just spotted Brenda's comment above. What is wrong with these people!
Have a lovely time at the show and with Rita. Hope you get everything on your list!! ;)
Take care, Flo xx

Hi KATE, that is awful getting scampers on the phone, they have no shame, they don't know if it is a vulnerable person on the line, they just don't care who they upset. Your card is gorgeous and a very pretty image. Have a good time at the SECC in Glasgow, I was going to go but decided not to, a lot of walking I think, maybe next year. I am having my operation on 2nd of December, I hope I will see you before then for coffee. Marlene

Always such a lovely read on your posts. Gorgeous pretty card. Have fun at the show, we wouldn't do a long trip in a day either, love an overnight stay.

A super wedding card using this gorgeous LOTV image. I get quite cross with these bogus calls and as you say if you haven't got your wits about you you can easily get caught out, glad you didn't.
Enjoy your trip away, it will be nice to have a short break before the winter sets in. Hope you can stick to your list :) I will be going to the NEC next week for my crafty fix.

TFS the fishy phone call to warn us! We have the same kinds of scams in the USA, and it's frightening at first, if one doesn't realize what this is. And many seniors don't get on the computer so are easy prey for these awful people. Good to remind everyone that government entities don't operate this way. Hope you & Rita will have a grand time, (ditto you & Alistair for your mini-vacation). I know you'll have a wonderful craft shopping and it's so much more fun if you've got a pal to enjoy the occasion. Can't wait to hear what goodies you find, and your card is just sweet & adorable! TFS & Hugs.

You have done right in just hanging up Kate, we used to get them here, now I have a 'caller ID" on our phone and a silent number. The odd one gets through but they are like the fire brigade which I just hang up on too, as they are collecting money and always want your credit card...Hang up....Just like emails, do not open any files that they request you to...just delete..if someone wants to contact you they will in writing. Even then over here in australia you still get mail from scammers and their heading of the papers are so real like. I then phone the bank or who ever and confirm the mail...another one is paypal, I get so many scammers to 'open this file' saying they are from paypal but I confirmed with paypal they do not send out such mail...there more for the mind to think about.

Fabulous card bye the way, love the image used, love this. Have a great day.xx {aNNie}

Lovely wedding card Kate such a sweet image, enjoy your trip to Glasgow, have never been to a Hobby Craft show would probably spend far too much or regret not buying things.
We had a similar scam a few weeks ago but by e-mail, It doesn't help that HMRC are now asking customers to claim tax refunds via their web site after you register through the government gateway, I had a letter regarding a tax rebate, if you don't claim on-line they will not process the refund for several weeks,I feel hey are making everything more difficult, but they said on their letter they would never contact you by phone or e-mail.

Those scam calls are a darned nuisance...what with those and the ones where there's a problem with your computer or you've been involved in a car accident. Grrrrr.
Anyway, forget about that and lets get back to your card which features one of my fav LOTV stamps. Love it!!!

Hi Kate
Adorable image and card.
Thankfully, we have a call blocking facility with our phone provider and it stopped the vast amount of nuisance calls. They've even started ringing using mobile numbers too.
Hope you enjoyed the show and meeting up with Rita.
Best wishes.

Excellent post about the scam, Kate! We have similar calls here in the US with the voice (with an accent!) telling us that we are being sued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). I imagine that must be the same as your HMRC. They even have the gall to leave messages on the answering people and a number for people to call back! Scum is right! Of course it is terribly scary at first, but I know better. I just get infuriated for the older folks who are vulnerable and gullible and that's who they are preying on. Grrr!

On to more pleasant things: your sweet little wedding card is adorable!! I think I must CASE it as I have none such cards in my stash.

By now you are in Glasgow! I hope you had a wonderful time at the Craft Show and that Alistair and his brother Jim stayed out of trouble!! Safe travels home! Hugs, Darnell

Hi Kate,
such a wonderful card and such a very sweet image too.
Lovely design as well.
Enjoy your visit to Glasgow.
I did wonder how you managed to do it in a day last time as it is so far from you.
I hate those scam calls too we get quite a few each day especially the computer ones.
My hubby kkeps them talking pretending to be on the computer, and then says to them on my screen it says your some naughty words and your just a con merchant.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
