Cosy and Warm!
Hello Everyone, not been here for a few days so I do hope you are all well.
Thank you all so much for the lovely comments left on my last blog post, especially about Alistair's conker, ha ha,.but seriously, I am delighted you take the time to read my little stories of life here in the Currie household, and to encourage me with the crafting.
Now, this is for Blogging Friend Sandy who doesn't know what a conker is. Well Sandy, it's a chestnut and when they fall from the trees, you try to get a large one thread it with some string and you have chestnut challenges where you try to crack or break your opponents chestnut by swinging your chestnut to hit the other one. The chestnut is commonly known as a conker. I have no idea where or how it all began, but when I was a wee girl at school this game was all the go in the Autumn. If you couldn't find a conker to play with, there was always, skipping ropes, marbles or bouncing a ball of the side of a building whilst singing a rhyme. Oh, those halcyon days!!. Oh and I almost forgot about peever, where you marked the ground with chalk in squares with numbers, but earthor stones in a boot polish tin and sifted it along the square and then hopped in them. Who needed an Xbox then. Who remembers these games?
Anyhow on to my card;

Hi Kate,
love this card. Great design as always. Fab image too.
Yes I rmeember those games to. We din't need computer games or anything like that to enjoy ourselves. I always marvelled at the hop scotch, marble pices we would use. They were obviosly broken up wahs stands from a gone by age, or frome cold slab out of a larder.
I always wanted one but never had one of my own.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Cute image Kate, I just adore LOTV, must get more cards done with their toppers I don't do stamps yet. Remember all the games especially peevers. My dad was always being pushed to empty his polish tin so we could have it to play. Shoes were polished in those days not a quick rub over with a sponge thingy. Those were the days, no computers, just fun.

Hi Kate
Gorgeous fireside scene to warm the cockles.
Thought that peever sounded like hopscotch. Used to play marbles and something using football cards leant against a wall and you had to flick another card to knock them over. Five stones and Tig were favourites too. Did have the computer games but I preferred to be outside with my pals.
Happy days. . . . . . . .

Ooh, another lovely LOTV stamp, I love what you've done with it, and I just love Alastair's giant conker in the post below, it's brilliant. I used to love a good game of conkers as a girl! xx

Hugs Kate xx
Great card Kate. Like other commenters I remember hop scotch where we just used one stone and how I loved playing ball up against the wall of the house. Children now miss out on so much. They don't really understand simple.
Morning sweetie, this is just adorable, stunning colours too hugs Pops x x
Well thank you Kate - I guess I am the only one that did not know what a conker is. My grand kids play a similar game with their hard boiled Easter eggs. Each child holds an Easter egg in their hand and then they bump eggs. If your egg shell breaks, you are out of the game.
I know, this is not about Easter, this is about
Christmas and you have made a delightful Christmas card. What a cute image - your creation is so happy one just has to smile!
Sandy
Such a cute Christmas card especially the stamped image. I too remember conkers, used to soak them in vinegar and bake them to make them harder.....cheating?! Lol. It's all about the winning! ;)
Happy crafting, hugs Erika.
What a lovely card and perfect for our 'Cute and Cuddly Critters' theme at Crafty Little Fairies - thanks for sharing with us!
Hugs, Kat x
