Hello there Everyone, hope your weekend is going well and you are not affected too much with all the snow. It's been quite incredible in some places, not too much here though, we have been very lucky in Inverness, but it's been bitingly cold and temperatures in the minus during the night, minus 10 one night last week. We haven't ventured out much I can tell you, so plenty time for crafting.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my last card, so very kind of you.
Well, it's time for the Christmas Card Club ladies to show their creations for another challenge, and this time around it's been chosen by Mrs. A, known to all as Valery and she would like to see a Robin or Robins. You can't go wrong with a Robin, cheeky little chaps that are so traditional for Christmas cards. I've made a few as I used a CD and there were lots of images on the sheet that printed out. The CD is by Cupcake Crafting and it's called Magical Moments at Christmas.
The Robin image is the same on both cards, just one smaller than the other. The first one is matted and layered on to a DL base card, with a little embossed edge that came along with a CC magazine, I've glittered the image up and embellished with leaves, the Ivy leaves I bought form Mrs. Duck, not sure of the brand and the other leaves with the bow are from JND.
Second card is matted on to an embossed black card using a SB EF, the paper is from the CD and I've used a Kraft card base this time. Having glittered the image I than added DI in Black Soot around the edges. The sentiment is one by Inkylious .
My last card is using a lovely image from Chocolate Baroque;
This image is called The Gift and I've coloured with SN Aqua Pens, Sparkle Pens and Sakura Gel Pens. I stamped leaf images in the background and coloured with DI. More CB flourish stamps embossed with WOW Silver powder, then I matted the main panel over it. Added a few sequins and job done.I hope they will do Valery, loved the challenge and was on a roll with it, thank you.
Now let me tell you what I've been getting up to today. I've been at a Ladies Lunch in aid of Children 1st. The venue was at the Drumossie Hotel here in Inverness and the guest speaker was Professor Dame Sue Black. For anyone who has never heard of this lady, she is a Forensic Anthropologist and has worked national and internationally on crimes associated with wars, murders, dismemberment and abuse of children. She is Director of the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification at Dundee University. She led a team to identify the remains of the mass murdered victims in Kosovo. It's important to her to be able to give the deceased person a name, but also to gather evidence for war crimes. She had led research which develops techniques to make this possible.
She has also developed techniques the police which help to identify those who abuse children, hence her link to Children 1st, and there had been great success in catching these people.
I could have listened to her all day, a terrific speaker with ever a hint of humour... well with her job she'd need it.
Now if that's not all... for the readers amongst you and if you like crime novels the Professor is a consultant to Val McDermid when Val need to know about bodies. She is one of my favourite Authors.
Just after lunch we were entertained by the Inverness Army Wives Choir, and how fabulous they are, you may remember, that Gareth Malone put the choir together a few years ago and they had a number 1 chart hit. I was so impressed as they sang without music. It was just lovely.
There was an auction which raised £2900, and with around 300 Ladies at the lunch, there would have been a fair amount of funds raised. So all in all, it's been a lovely afternoon and something different.
I'll be scheduling this post for tomorrow(Sunday). I'm thinking the temperature has just dropped as it's suddenly become really cold and I've got all the heating on.
That's me for now, keep yourselves safe and warm and see you soon,

waue beautiful love the robin, love the embossing - great cards all
Good Morning Kate. What a beautiful and very interesting post. Back to your fantastic cards. Like you I love the little robins that come around the gardens foraging for food. So every card is perfect for the theme today. We have not had snow like this for years in Ayrshire as being at the coast it never lies long. But this extreme weather has crippled lots of people and places in the uk. No bread or milk deliveries so our big supermarkets could not deliver shopping either. Much better today I'm glad to say. Keep Warm and cosy Kate and carry on making your excellent cards. Hugs Rita xxx
three beautiful cards Kate, we have a pair of robins in the garden almost all year round and I love to watch them, you could enter this card into the challenge at http://cdsundaychallenge.blogspot.co.uk/ this fortnight.
Sounds as though you enjoyed your interesting afternoon out
Three beautiful cards Kate....I love robins they are my favourite Christmas bird...while we have had the snow I have been busy feeding mine...they nearly come and tap on the window when they are hungry ...such cheeky birds I do love them....
It’s raining hard here today so the snow is at last clearing and we will be able to get out at last xxxx
Enjoying going round you and your teamies Robin makes, both of your are lovely and especially like the Robin atop the fence, so very traditional.

All your cards are great Kate. I love how the first two look so different even though you have used the same image. Keep warm. HUgs Christine xx
What a trio of wonderful Robin cards (Really love the black embossed music score background too!). Each card presented a different look at a beautiful creature, and what a fab job you did with the images on each card. Enjoyed reading about your luncheon, and this Professor must have be so inspiring to listen to her speech. As well as having the lovely music to add to the program. Good for you at joining in! tfs & hugs
Phew! You do sound like you have been busy Kate - sounds like a fascinating talk and so glad that so much money was raised at the auction! Your cards are beautiful - a real joy! I can hardly believe you didn't have much snow! Neither did we but like you we had the biting temperatures! Brrr!!!! Lets hope there's no more now until next year! Big huggles Rachel x
I love your robins on the tree stumps. Beautiful cards. Wish I had been at the club to hear the speaker. I would have found it all so interesting. Glad you missed the brunt of the bad weather. We had 5" of snow so didn't fair to badly either. My but the nights were bitter below freezing. It has been mild here today but turned cold now. Off to put another jumper on and my woolly leggings. Hugs Mrs A.
Great images and details.
Have a lovely week.
Valerija xx

What a wonderful array of robins Kate, three lovely cards. Sounds like a lovely afternoon too. Carol x
These are such pretty robin cards. The images are wonderful and I like both sizes of that first one!
I need to learn how to use a CD as i was gifted three of them and have not it yet. I am a bit hopeless with the computer so need my daughters to teach me what to do with them!
We had the weather you are describing a couple of weeks ago and stayed home for 7 days. Al does not like me to walk on icy sidewalks as I fall easily...and have a couple of spectacular falls that of course leave you with broken bones. So we keep the pantry well stocked in the winter and just eat and cook from what is in the house! Boring...but gets us through...
I think I like the middle card best as the non traditional colours caught my eye. It is really eye catching!
Your outings sounded lovely. that speaker must have been such a treat.
A gorgeous set of cards for our theme this week Kate, I really loved this theme and like you seemed to have lots of images to choose from. I hope the snow clears for you soon, ours has almost gone today with all the rain we've had - looking forward to Spring!
Lorraine
Hi Kate, I adore your robin cards. They are all beautiful but my favourite is the one on the black card, love the contrast. Sounds like you have had a very busy but very enjoyable day. Stay warm and snug Kate, hope you're wearing your beautiful socks lol! they will keep you warm!
Hugs Jennifer xx.
Three great cards, Kate. I love robins. I am happy that you have great time with your friends, my dear. Just take care of yourself especially when it is cold outside. Kisses!!!!!!!
Thankfully it rained yesterdsy and the snow has almost gone, we had more than you! Loving your sweet robin cards. Your day sounds lovely and very interesting
lovely cards mf...there is something wonderful seeing birds on holiday cards.
Sounds like a very interesting speaker making all of us more aware of what is and has happened in the world. We are lucky that there are people out there that have the time and ability to spread this info and make all of us more aware.
Stay warm...it's freezing here in Ont., Canada this morning.
xx Karen
Fabulous card Kate ... love your Robin...
hugs Sylvie xx
Three beautiful cards Kate, the robin is so pretty.
Hugs Diane
Lovely selection of cards Kate, great theme that everyone seems to have enjoyed as I've done my visiting tonight.
I'd not heard of Professor Dame Sue Black but I'd love to hear her speak, how interesting and what a lovely day out you had
Keep warm, it's all thawing here now

Hi Kate, your Robin Christmas cards are so very pretty. Lovely designs and colors. Sounds like you had a very interesting afternoon and the speaker sounds very interesting. Nice to get out even on these cold days.
Hugs

Que lindo!
janicce.
Lovely cards Kate but I must admit - Robins in the US are associated with Sring and the coming of summer. Cardinals on the other hand, are all red and seem to love the cold weather and snow. While the female Cardinals are a dull rusty red, the males are a deep bright red.
I would have loved to be with you to hear that lady speak - sounds so interestng.
Sandy xx
I love all of your pretty robin cards Kate, and the embossing behind the first two really enhances the two images, and I especially love the black on the second which makes the embossing show up beautifully. The third with the sweet robin on the brightly coloured parcel is wonderful, and I adore the silver embossed leafy flourish on the background card...gorgeous! There are lots of the Military Wives Choirs all over the country which were a spin off of the TV programme, and we have several down here in the south west. The Male Voice Choir my husband belongs to have sung with the most local one and are doing so again this November raising money for one of the Forces charities. So pleased your ladies lunch raised lots of money for this charity too. x
I think bird images are my favourite, especially for a wintery or holiday card! This image is exquisite on both card fronts and I love embossing patterns you used too! Card three is so traditional with the red and green, wonderfully festive! hugs :)
What an interesting post this was Kate. She sounds like a very interesting speaker. Your cards are lovely. I think we all like Robins on Christmas cards. Barbxx
