A Striplet in Lavender!

Hello all you Crafty Folk, and welcome again to my blog. I hope your Saturday has been good for you whatever you've been doing.

Thank you too to everyone who commented on my last card, the kind words and encouragement are so appreciated.

I didn't make it with an oldie yesterday, I felt I needed a wee break from the computer as I seem to be spending an awful lot of time on it, So I didn't do all that much blog wise, but I have a card for you today;

Made with a striplet and matted on to lavender Centura Pearl. The striplet is cut from Papermaina purple card. Die'sire word die and Papermaina Botanical paper.  Embellished with pearls, ribbon and a dazzler from my box.

Now, nobody can say I'm not a trier, but the amount of times I put this striplet through my machine, turned it around, flipped it over, used an extra shim,  all that and  waxed paper, I can tell you my arm was sore with all the turning.  The word die cut a dream.  I just don't get on with SB/SW dies and I must learn a lesson and stop buying them.  I just don't know how all you SB ladies and gents do it.

Anyway, eventually I got the card put together, but noticed after I'd photographed it that the dazzler had come off the bow, and then......I somehow managed to put my "hand made by" stamp up side down.  I don't if the effort was worth it all, what do you think?????

Hoping everyone is well, but sending out kind thoughts to those who need them, for a speedy recovery.
Take care till next time,

Brilliant card Kate love it. Ok! it took a lot of work it it's beautiful.
Now! to cover your "upside down" mistake ........ stamp again on the same kind of card.
Die cut with a small die and stick over your mistake. It works ... how do I know??
If you remember where you got your Die, take it back. Hazel has had many problems with SW Dies.
Sue always say that it's the machine NOT the Die. Afraid I totally disagree, I feel they are so mass produced
that "Die" used to cut them out gets blunt so the Craft Die is then blunt.
Enjoy your weekend

It's gorgeous Kate with such pretty papers and die-cut elements even though they were a pain to cut out. I try and put my dies along the edge of the cutting mat furthest away from the handle, there seems to be more pressure there, even so I occasionally have a stubborn one too. Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Kate, I love your card, yes a lot of work when the due doesn't cut, as Patricia has said take it back. As you know I love my striplets and I don't have problems with them , but oh boy I have had a couple of SW dies that just wouldn't cut, sent my GC away thinking it was the problem, no it was the dies. it was worth it Kate....I know what you mean about the SWDies...I listed the will to craft with mine but since I invested in a metal shim for my machine they all work,I think it must sharpen them up......it's a brilliant weekend the sun is shining ...we have gone way for a few days so no crafting ....enjoy yours xxxx

I find the metal shim and if necessary greaseproof paper usually works but I do find SW dies the hardest to cut and so many fiddly bits to poke out too. Anyway worth it because your card is gorgeous x

Stunning Kate and you know I only used a new Sue Wilson die the other day and it just would not cut through the first couple of times, by the time I put it through 5 times through my Big Shot then through my ebosser, the paper was ruined ....will not buy her dies again.xx

Wonderful card Kate, worth all the effort agree with you about SW Dies, often need to put them through several times. it didn't detract from the finished item though

Hi Kate I know what you mean the last SW die I had was a wee b****r to cut also, not Spellbinder standards (I was very spoilt demonstrating!).
As the dies get more and more intricate it seems to be more of an issue.
Having said that the striplet die is gorgeous, I keep seeing everyone's cards online and thinking I need to add them to my wish list of fine crafting products. A girl can't have enough, although I do try hard!
The sentiment die is lovely too, I think you'd get lots of use from it.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend?

Hugs Erika. x

Gorgeous card design Kate, agree with the others you ought to take it back, afraid I do not have many SW die, mainly leaves and flower dies, I have heard that they are a problem to cut, make you not want to use them again.

The end result is beautiful Kate but I feel your pain with the die....have you tried using a piece of bubble wrap as a shim...it did help me. Carol x

Well you did good kid! And if I don't get off this computer I will never have time to make anything and believe me, I need all the practice I can get! I do believe what you cut out is perfect!!

Gorgeous card Kate. I got rid of my SW dies ages ago. They were cheaply made flimsy dies in my opinion and I did not want the bother of them. When you compare the quality of them with some of the others e.g. Memory box - her's just do not come up to scratch.

Gorgeous card Kate. What a shame about the die. I have been looking at all the comments. I don't think I will bother with them. TFS. Dies are not cheap so it is really helpful to hear other crafters opinions.
Have a lovely week.

Well your efforts paid off, because the card is beautiful. Love the flowered paper and the orchid color is so pretty. Stubborn dies are best placed at the top on the left hand edge, the most pressure there, and if it does not cut all the way through the first pass, turn the whole thing once to the right and run through again, should do the trick.

Hi Kate
More than worth it chuck. Its a beautiful card Kate.
I suppose different machines behave differently with the dies. You could try rubbing the die with a tumble dryer sheet or using a thin sheet of funky foam as a shim.
Your background paper is delightful too.
Best wishes.
