Checkmate!

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome to my Blog, I hope you are all well, but sending out kind thoughts to those who are not so good at the moment.
Thank you for the lovely comments left on my last card, I do appreciate them and the time it takes to go around the blogs.

I've been once again dabbling in other cyberspace areas, facebook and pinterest. I do these thing mainly to see if I can, it usually takes me ages to figure out how to set them up, but I've managed to do it, quite how I will use facebook I don't know, as I don't lead an interesting life and feel that people wouldn't like banal comments.  Pinterest is different though as it has loads of interesting things on the site and therefore offers fantastic inspiration.  I've been pinning many of the cards I've viewed around the logs and putting them on my " cards that offer me inspiration" Board.  It's also another way of getting your work noticed. I'm sure I'm preaching to the converted, but there might be someone who doesn't know of Pinterest.

Well on to my card for today, it's a birthday card for my Stepson;

I've used the Chess Stamp Set from Chocolate Baroque, I love their stamps as they ink up beautifully.
There are lots of images in this set and so useful for a male card.
Versamark Onyx Black Ink
Black card and Silver Mirror card
Papermaina Liquorice Paper
Ribbon from my stash
Card Candy in Silver and Black

I'm quite pleased with it and Alistair thinks it's super and as it is for his son that's what matters.

I'm back to work tomorrow after some lovely days off, and today I met up with two crafty buddies, Shona and Fiona for a chat and a coffee, which a lovely.  Who knows what the next three days will bring at work, but it will soon be over and I'll be on days off once again, you'd be forgiven if you think I don't like my job, well put it this way, I am soooooooooo looking forward to retirement, and work prevents me from doing all the activities I want to do.

Have a great evening and I'll see you soon,

Hi Kate,
fabulous card for a chess enthusiast.
Great designed stepper card.
I bet he loved it.
I only belong to Facebook, and don't use that much as I don't know what I am doing half the time, and it's not easy for us older participants to learn, plus I'm scared of doing the wrong thing and the whole world knowing of it.
The younger generation seem to love it though.
Now when you retire you will find you are still struggling for time as you slow down to a snails pace, and therefore there is never enough time in a day for me to do all I would like. lol.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Don't do Facebook or Pintrest really do not have time, too busy with so many other things. Sorry to tell you this Kate being retired certainly does not give you any more "free" time.........!!!!
The thought of not having to got out to work is great through.
Hugs a plenty

This is a lovely card for your stepson...He is going to love it and the wonderful details of the design.

I hear you about work. I am medically retired since we hit the deer. I do not miss work at all...it was stressful and so busy it made my head spin!
I do miss some of the people I worked with, but not the stress!

Hi Kate love your amazing card! I love Pinterest although its quite addictive and you can say goodbye to the rest of your evening once you go on! Loads of good boards on Colouring too! Facebook I had to join because of a few DTs I am on but I find it very banal and repetitive. Unfortunately it seems to be getting very popular in the crafting community and I am hoping things don't all end up there instead of Blogger! You will love retirement I highly recommend it! Susan xx

A fabulous card and sure to be a hit with your stepson. I find Pinterest very inspiring but like so many others I find I lose too much time browsing the endless boards, but I think I'm addicted :) I am on Facebook too but only for DT's and competitions really. Hope your day goes well.

Hi Kate
Love the chess stepper. Those stamps are terrific.
I don't do Facebore (that's not a spelling mistake lol!) or Twitter. I'm very flattered though after discovering today, that Elaine has set up a Pinterest board of my cards. How cool!
Best wishes.

Hi Kate, I love your chess themed card - great idea. I have to admit I've lost a lot of potential crafting time (and sleep sometimes!) since I discovered Pinterest. It is highly addictive particularly when you first join. I really enjoyed our catch up and coffee too. Hope to see you again soon. Shona xx
