Hello Everyone, hope you are having a grand weekend, doing whatever makes you happy.
I'm not doing all that much, a bit of housework here and there, then a wee sit down with my kindle, then up to do something else.
I've been busy off and on in my craft room and trying to get ahead with the cards I need for CCC and the BBB challenge, I like to be ahead. I will have to make a Sympathy card as one of our neighbours died this morning.
He had been ill with cancer for a while, and it's finally got him. It was a strange thing to see the Funereal car taking him away, with a young woman walking in front of the car. It was really quite sad. We are a street, well a cul de sac really, where nearly everyone is young, with small children, so it's been a very long time since someone died. The children out playing on the street were mesmerised by the car going by. Anyway, he is out of pain now.
Thank you all so much for your visits and your lovely comments on my last card.
I made this one with one of our male friends in mind, and I thought the stags would be just fine for him. I've used a stamps by Crafts Too, that John Lockwood had on his Hochanda show, the tags and sentiment are his own dies. Mrs. Duck gifted me the fabulous tartan card, which I though goes so well with the stag theme, finished off with enameled dots.
I would like to enter the card into http://allsortschallenge.blogspot.com/2018/08/week-4801-from-boys-to-men.html
That's me for now, so I'll say cheerio for now and see you soon, take care and have a good weekend,

ReplyDeletelove the tartan background Kate, perfect with the stags heads and banners, a truly Scottish make
ReplyDeleteLovely card Kate, and ideal for use as a male card. I'm sorry to hear of the death of your neighbour. Cancer is certainly no respecter of persons. When John's mum die it was a young woman who acted as funeral director. She was the "and Daughter" part of the family business. Seemed very strange at the time. We are having some more rain this evening, for which we are very grateful. Not being on mains water makes us vulnerable but the cost of trying for that is just so incredibly high and not a simple task! Ah well, we've survived this long, and John has put plans in place to harvest a lot more rainwater than we already do. Take care. Hugs Christine xx

A great masculine Christmas creation Kate, many thanks for joining in with our 'Boy's to Men' theme at Allsorts challenge.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your neighbour, it's always a reality check and women seem to be quite normal in what used to be a male dominated occupation, the furneral director at my friends son's funeral last week was a lady.

Really lovely card. Sorry to hear about your neighbour.
ReplyDeleteI just love tartan on Christmas cards and the stags are just right for a masculine card Kate, and especially applicable in your part of the world. We have always wanted to see something of the rut in October/November but it hasn't happened yet. We know there are plenty of deer but they are very elusive and we have never heard any stags roaring...still maybe one day. x
ReplyDeleteHi Kate
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your neighbour. I can remember when I was young (well, younger I should say) that our cul de sac would have a whip round for flowers and curtains would be closed but times change.
Anyhoo, what a splendid card Mrs C. When I saw the tartan card, I knew where it needed to be sent lol!!!
Good luck in the challenge.
