Elves, Pixies, Gnomes for the CCC!

Hello Everyone and welcome to the first Challenge from the Christmas Card Club of this New Year of 2018.....Whee, where did last year go to! Wasn't it a quick one!

I hope you all had a super New Year, but for those who are ill or struggling in one way or another, let's hope you will feel better soon and that this year will be kind to you.

So here we are, us ladies that want to get ahead in the Christmas card making so that there is less stress towards the Big Day.  It's a great way to keep on top of the card making and if you would like to join us just get in contact with me or any other the other ladies and we'll tell you how.

We each choose around two themes throughout the year, and it's a fortnightly challenge, so not too much to do. This year there is also the option to choose to do Anything Goes, so that you don't miss out on making a card. It was found that this was sometimes happening if there wasn't anything in our stash to make the theme.

Our Challenge was chosen by Margaret (Duchess) and she would like to see, Elves, Pixies, Gnomes.....Well my card is as close to that as I had, but maybe it's an Anything Goes;
It's an Angel really and it's an old stamp from LOTV, coloured with Derwent Procolour Pencils and some SN Shimmer Pen.
A little bit of watercolour and a few sequins. Sentiment is also LOTV.  The lovely paper in the background is from Crafty Individuals.

I usually make more than one card, but I've restrained myself this time as I made far too many last year, actually I really don't have to make any this year at all, but they are by far my favourite cards to make.  I'm also determined to make them flat for posting, what a cost I was in postage at Christmas.

So that's me, but I would just like to thank you for your lovely comment on my last card and photographs, you are all very kind. Take care and see you soon,

  7. This is such a sweet image and makes a beautiful card. Making flat cards sounds like a good plan, postage is so expensive now. No idea how many Christmas cards I need to make this year, I still have about 15 lili of the valley nativity images that I stamped and coloured about 6 years ago and haven't got round to making them into cards! Maybe this year is their lucky Christmas!

  18. Having been a really bad blogger the last month or so having a quick catch up and of course the Christmas photo of Rowan and Milo is a big hit with me being a 'doggy' girl. Also very much like that card with the hues of green, oh to see those colours popping up in the garden.

And your Angel card is a delight.

A rather belated Happy New Year Kate.

  19. Kate, that postage is awful, isn't it? I always try to keep my card flat, but then it doesn't always end up thusly! I love your take on the challenge. Angels are sort of pixies, right? And I love the look of this sweet card. Your pencil coloring is wonderfully done, and I like the way you've created the 'glow' around the focal image. Pretty background paper, and the scallops are a perfect framing for this adorable scene. TFS & Hugs

  24. A gorgeous Christmas card, Kate! Hope you are well and had a lovely new year. I am back to work tomorrow, and I was just getting used to being a domestic goddess, lol

  25. This is such a sweet image and card. i agree about the postage. I mailed a couple of thick ones to England and almost had to take out a mortgage!

We had a huge increase in postal rates a couple of years ago. It makes such a difference to keep them fairly flat. I can use two layers of then dimensionals or one layer and a t3eensy diamond.

No more medium sized diamonds unless they are hand delivered.

  27. Stunning stamping and colouring Kate and to me pixies and angels are along the same lines so I am sure the lovely Margaret won't mind. I was so happy I kept most of my cards flat because of the cost, the mail charges are ridiculous even for flatter cards these days Karen xx

  29. Hello Kate, and Happy New Year. I love your little Angel, putting a lovely ribbon on that beautiful ornament. Postage seems to be outrageous everywhere, which has caused a lot of folks from not sending cards, shame....
