A Big Conker and a Fairy!

Hello to you all out there in Blogland, I hope you are all well, but sending hugs and good wishes for those of you who are not so tip top.

Well it's cold here tonight, and I've put on for the first time since buying them in Iceland my Elfshoes.  They are so cosy, but the bells on the toes are doing Alistair's head in, but I don't care I love them.

Thank you all for the lovely comments on my last card, I do appreciate that you take the time to pop in and comment.  I would like to welcome Marlene, my latest follower and who lives here in Inverness, I met   her today with Fiona who is another crafty friend.  Marlene has fabulous projects on her blog, and some of you might know of her already, but do pop in and visit her at http://cardsmadebymarlene.blogspot.co.uk/

My hubby has been busy in the kitchen today as he brought home from his travels yesterday some mussels which he turned into Mussel Chowder.  Now I'm not for that sort of meal, not keen on seafood, I can do prawns in a cocktail sauce, that's about it, but I tasted some of the sauce and it was gorgeous.  He thoroughly enjoyed it, and hopefully it won't aggrivate his gout as seafood does.  Me? well I had a piece of Gala pie and beetroot.  I'm right off cooking these days and I don't bother all that much when it's just me I'm feeding.  He has done well this week as he made a scrumptious apple pie on Tuesday from our own apples, he is a clever boy and there is no end to his talents, here is something else he's made;
A Big Conker, he carved it from a log, stained and varnished it and put an old piece of rope throught it. He wanted to show the size that's the reason ther is a one of those little bottles of wine beside it.
A closeup.  When Alistair was at Community Service, this was one of the projects he had the clients make, it was much larger and it still sits in their grounds.  I think it is rather cool.

And on to my humble effort, a card using  http://deliciousdoodles.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/holly-fairy.html

  1. Evening Kate, My what a big Conker Ha Ha Ha. What a talented hubby you have. Mine enjoys cooking too and used to make all the cakes at Christmas for the family when he was on leave from the ship. Bit lazy these days on the cooking side since I retired and took over.

Your card is delightful Kate, love that image and the backing papers are gorgeous. Love that Holly die I got the ivy one and used it to make the wreath card.

I think rain will stop play over the weekend so a crafty one for me.

  4. That conker is great, I looked at the photo first and thought "what in the name is that" then I read your blog, glad your elf shoes are cozy I can see you going to put them on and they will be missing the bells and you will know who to blame haha.

Your card is lovely. Yes that was my first attempt at the box, as I said to Patricia I have the knowledge to do things but don't have all the tools or time to do them, but love playing with card and paper I think that's why I love scrap booking as you can do what you like.

    Looking forward to next Saturday.

  10. Hi Kate,
what an amazing piece of work involved in making that giant conker. Your hubby sure is very clever.
I have got to tell you this my hubby hardly looks at my blog, but because my computer was on the dinning table while waiting for the cable to be lade in the loft. He looked at it and saw DH, and said to me who's this DH well I cracked up laughing, and then explained. I think he thought I had a fancy man, when it was him I was referring to.
Love your fab card. Great image, and so wonderfully designed too.
    Your slippers sound fan-dabbie-dozy.
    Have a wonderful crafty weekend.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
