A Fairy Heart and a Coffee Jar!

Hello Friends and Visitors, I hope you are well and enjoying your day, but for those of you who are not so tip top, I wish you a speedy recovery.

Boy am I tired today or I'm I tired!! mind you I've done a lot around the house and helped Alistair clean the car, and got some crafting done too.  I thought that once I'd given up work I would have heaps more energy, but that doesn't seem to be the case, mind you I am wakened and up very early, earlier than I would be when I was at work. I feel that I just don't want to waste any of the day.  However, I'm dozing off just after dinner, getting older I guess.

Thank you all for the super comments on my last card, you are very kind, but keep them coming as it is so helpful to have the encouragement.

Something a wee bit different today, a bit photo heavy so please forgive;
I started to make this project when I was last at the Birmingham Show last year, Patricia and Hazel you might remember them, well I have just got around to finishing it today.  It's for my Friend Dale's Daughter Amanda and I know she loves things like this. I always like to take something handmade when I visit, so I thought this would be perfect, and I chose the sentimet because she is just such a lovely young woman, and if I had been lucky to have a daughter, I would have loved to have her.

And here is what I've made for Dale;

Dale sews and is a Quilter, and I usaully take down some Fat Quarters for her, this time I've included a altered coffee jar with a design on it( too nice to chuck out) and filled it with sewing bits and bobs.
I've decorated it with a new sewing themed die set from First Editions and put a large Prima flower on the lid.
We are off  down to visit them soon and to go to the Edinburgh Jazz Festivel and really looking forward to it.

Well folks that's me for today, Alistair, bless him has decided to make dinner as he had a look in the kitchen and saw nothing going on, it's just baked potatoes and bits tonight, so easy peasy.  That's another thing.... I've been burning everything I've been cooking, don't know what's going on there. I'm really lucky having a hubby who never complains about the meals I serve up, good job!! if the last few dinners  are anything to go by.

Cheero for now,

What lovely gifts I'm sure Dale and her daughter will love them. What a great idea to put fat quarters with a jar of goodies for a lady who sews.
Enjoy the jazz festival.

Hi Kate

What a fabulous project .. .. it looks beautiful. You have used wonderful dies and colours. I feel certain the recipient will love it as much as I do.

I love the present too. What a lovely treasure trove for a quilter. I use those jars for my buttons .. .. but mine aren't altered .. .. just plain and boring LOL!.

Many thanks Kate for all your lovely comments on my blog whilst I have been missing from blogland. You are very kind. Life has been super manic but has calmed down to a more managable pace now.

Have a good week.

Love Jules xx

Terrific project Kate. Wonderful gifts. Dale and Amanda are going to love them!! Such a coincidence too - this afternoon my WI friends and I spent the afternoon altering jam jars, sweetie jars and this same coffee jar, into items we can sell at the village show next month. We have transformed them into tealight holders, cotton wool ball holders and make-up brush holders. Hope you are well. Hugs Christine xx

Ah, these are gifts to delight any sewer's heart. It's not always easy to find sewing themes to fit in with cardmaking, and I saw some nifty little embellies on your clever jar. Love the fairy project too, and how special you've made it with the heart theme. Such a lovely thing for you to say about this young lady, to feel like she could be the daughter you wanted (and daughters are indeed so very special). I think she will be just thrilled with all of this, and that you took the time to make it just for her. You're discovering what all retirees learn: You didn't really have time to work! So just relax and enjoy each day, and tell Alistair, put on his apron! You're retired! TFS & Hugs. (mid day naps are lovely too).

wonderful makes Kate - I love the heart and the goodies for your quilter friend are fab. Enjoy not being at work - it does take some getting used to but I know I'll never go back unless needs must! There's so much else that we can spend our time doing! Big hugs rachel x

Great gifts...she is going to love them. You have done a fabulous job on these.

Sorry not been by...another card late for club too...I have my neck out (feels sort of twisted to one side) and am trying to limit my time in the craft room and on the computer. Have a nice heat pad on it tonight and just taking a few minutes to pop round a few faves!

Oh yes kate, I remember the heart! I found my one last week when I tidied my room. You have done a wonderful job on making it extra special. Love Dales gifts too, she will be thrilled with them. I am the same kate the less hours I am putting in at work the less time I seem to have. Now, now burning the dinners so you can get Alistair to take over the cooking! That's a new one. Have a great weekend in Edinburgh. Hazel xxx

Haha, I have a husband who eats anything I put in front of him too Kate - it's a good job, I have a few disasters while I'm experimenting in the kitchen but he never complains!
