Hearts for the Craft Group!

Good Morning Lovely Friends and Visitors of course and welcome to my wee bit of cyber space, so delighted that you pop in.

I hope everyone is well, but for those who are not, I wish you hugs and a speedy recovery.

Dodgy day weather wise this morning, sunny then dark skies, not sure what it's going to do, but I have no plans to be going out so It can do what it likes, hope the weather is good where you are.  We had a lovely walk along Rosemarkie beach on Sunday, looking for dolphins, but they weren't out playing, so just had to have and ice cream instead, with a flake too, naughty, naughty.

Anyway, I've been busy over the last few days making little keepsakes for the ladies in my craft group. As those of you know who follow my blog, I am being made redundant in June, so this Satuday will be our last get together as a craft group. I have been really amazed at the commitment of these folk, coming along even when they weren't feeling too well, and joing in the crafting. Their makes were so very individual and lovely, I've shown some of them, and I'm so pleased to say that at the end of the session all felt better. I really do believe that crafting, any crafting is so theraputic...especially for those who experience poor mental health.

So, I 've been wondering what could I make for them to remember their time in the craft group, but also their time at Cairdeas Cottage, where we have the project, which is completely going as the NHS Highland is pulling our funding, here is what I came up with;

MDF hearts with elements that I hope will reflect something of that person. One young woman makes the most fabulous cross stitch pictures, so I've made hers with lots of sewing elements, anothe r loves knitting, so you can see there is one for her, another  its flowers. I've also tried to look for sentiments that suit, one young woman has always been told by her father that she is rubbish and no good, the sentiment I chose for her tells her that she is special. The owl heart is for my colleauge who sometimes faciltitaes the group, she loves these creatures, and I know that she dreams of going on to study once her little ones are up a bit.  I hope I've managed to let them know that they will be missed and thought about as they cope without our service.
I won't list what I've used, too much.

It remains for me to say thank you for all the fab comments on the Star Box, I really do appreciate each and every one.

Hope to see you soon, enjoy your day whatever your up to and take care,

How wonderful that you have personalised all of your gifts, they will be truly appreciated and cherished. Very sad to here all of these types of organisations are gradually being closed and those that are in need of them are left to fend for themselves. Hope things go well for you in the future.

Kate, what a beautiful way to give s gift that reflects each individuals love of craft. You might just have to set up a little group of your own, and continue the crafting for these people. Funny I am writing this and on the news they ae showing your work place and saying it's being closed but their is another centre in Inverness. Maybe so but not what your unit gave these clients. Kate, you are not only supremely talented with your skills, but you have a warm, kind heart. How sweet of you to make these special hearts, tailored just to each personality. And it was wonderful for you to make this young lady have a keepsake to remind her to feel good about herself! Each person is unique & special and should NEVER be made to feel otherwise. I loved all the little special bits you added. It must have taken so much searching to find just the right embellies. I'm sorry to learn you are leaving your job (guess I missed the post about that decision). Having been through that, I can tell you that there is DEFINITELY life after a long-term job. Sometimes much rewarding than the one you had while working. I know you deserve just the best, and I wish it for you. Thanks for a splendid post this evening. I know all your craft pals will love having the mementos of your craft time together, as well as a personal rembrance of yourself. Hugs

Hi Kate
What a generous and thoughtful lady you are to make these for your clients.
Its such a shame that the group will have to stop.
Is there no way that you could carry on in a community centre or library as a volunteer project (as I'm guessing they won't be in a position to pay you) ?
Sad when something that is doing some obvious good, has the funding pulled.
Take care.
